Late Night Lock-In - Visit to Wirral Mosque
The Late Night Lock-In youth group from Bromborough were delighted to be invited to the Wirral Mosque and Community centre in Borough Road Birkenhead on Friday 26th July.

The group have been studying the Old Testament during 2018/19 and were struck by the common roots within ancient Judaism of both Christianity and Islam so it was a great opportunity to explore both the differences and similarities with our new friends from the Mosque.

The evening started in the community centre with drinks (and kit kats!) which were followed by an introduction to the basic beliefs of Islam from the Imam. We then had a lively question and answer session which covered everything from the rights of women and minority groups, dietary rules, the different views of Jesus and the effect on our everyday lives of being Methodists.

At 9.30 we were invited into the Mosque itself to see one of the 5 prescribed daily prayers followed by Muslims. We then prayed together as a single group.

The people of the Mosque could not have been more welcoming and the whole experience was of great value to all the participants.

We look forward to a reciprocal visit to Bromborough in the near future.
