Guiding at Bromborough Methodist Church

Guiding is the largest uniformed organisation in the world for girls only. Its aims are for girls to develop and broaden their horizons, to care for the world and environment, to become independent, confident good citizens.

We have a thriving group at this Church.

We have 1 Rainbow unit, with 15 girls aged 5-7. They meet on a Monday at 4.15pm. The girls enjoy a whole range of activities within a caring environment.

There are 2 Brownie packs, each with 24 girls aged 7-10. They meet on a Monday at 6pm and Wednesday at 6.30pm. The girls have opportunities for activities outside the meeting hall and often meet up with other units. Girls also get the opportunity to attend pack holiday.

We have 1 Guide company. We currently have 36 girls. It is a very active unit; activities include, climbing, canoeing and archery, craft and community service. We regularly have weekends away, under canvas or indoors. These have included Cardiff, London, Wales and recently Switzerland.

We also have a Senior Section unit, opened in 2007. This is for girls 14-25. Here the girls get to govern themselves and enjoy more varied and challenging activity. The girls are encouraged to give something back to guiding and many are young leaders with the other units or with other churches. They are encouraged to do more with other senior section units and will hopefully have many away adventures. They get international opportunities like Madagascar, Russia and sailing.

Guiding offers a lot of fun to the girls and leaders. Bromborough is a very friendly and supportive group and continues to go from strength to strength thanks to its army of leaders, age 14-65yrs.  We regularly have social events for the leaders. We would love to give more to the girls; we currently have a Rainbow waiting list of 30 girls, but need the leaders.

Help always welcome.
